Day 4: Color Blocking

Day 4: Color Blocking

I often like to describe myself as someone who is good at remixing. My self-proclaimed title comes from the fact that every item in my closet has been worn at least twice, and each time with something different. I have often heard people talk about how they have particular outfits that are worn for specific occasions and with specific accessories. I'd like to thank my mother for teaching me at an early age that if you leave only outfits hanging in your closet, you may be under a really great stand alone item!

Day 4: Color Blocking

In reading the new book by blogger Jessica Quirk, named after her blog, What I Wore, and with the Color blocking challenge today I've realized that I may not be a master re-mixer, but instead a really good mix and matcher. In the last few years I've developed a really great wardrobe, and that is largely in part to my solid color collection. Having a closet full of solid color basics means I can easily grab a top, a bottom and go. It seems I've created an adult size 'granaimals' wardrobe.

Day 4: Color Blocking

I've always been a fan of patterns, and I have a few favorite patterned pieces, but I just can't deny the versatility of strong solid colors. If I want to take things from a mix and matching level to a remixing level however I need to start branching out a bit. Even toddlers need to eventually break away from their favorite 'zebra tagged garanaimal' shirts, and I should probably start to play with patterns a bit more. Color Blocking though, that I loved.
