Day 1: Remix

Day 1: Remix

When I saw the first day's challenge, "Wear an item of clothing that you can remix 3 times in this challenge", the overly confident side of me thought, easy enough I am a remixing genius. Than I remembered this Gray Lace Skirt and a shuddered a bit. I think I've found the perfect candidate for today's challenge

Day 1: Remix

The problem of course is not that this skirt is not re-mixable. In fact I would go so far as to say this skirt has a ton of remixing capability, but this skirt comes with a very strong stigma. Last winter, Johnny's grandmother unfortunately fell very ill, and sadly passed away last January. As a christmas gift, she had given me with a gift certificate for Target and mentioned that she wanted me to ' buy something pretty with it'. I decided before her services that I wanted to see if I could find something special to wear in her honor. This skirt was the perfect find. I loved the gray lace and I knew that she would too. More importantly I knew that I could wear this skirt again and again. What potential this skirt had.

Day 1: Remix

The problem of course is that now, 8 months later I haven't worn the skirt again. What was once a skirt with lots of potential, is now the skirt I wore to a somber occasion, and I haven't been able to get past the stigma. It's high time I brought this skirt out to play, and this challenge will give me the opportunity to create some new stigmas to attach to it. Maybe this skirt can become, 'the lace skirt I wore once to a somber occasion but have since wore to lots of great events', just like Nanny would have wanted me to.

Definately re-mix the skirt. Create new happy memories with it and wear it with the joy Johnny's grandmother wanted you to have with your pretty Target purchase.

I think that shirt is great for making that somber skirt a little more playful. I love clothes with a story!

Such a special skirt! I'm excited to see what else you come up with during this challenge.

Thanks for all the support girls! I know it was kind of silly to let the sad memories hold me back! This skirt is just to cute to hide in a closet!
