I was so prepared for Polka Dot Day once it was declared by the amazing ladies at Everybody, Everywear. I sorted through my options and settled on the days winners, my Blue Polka Dot Cardigan, my Polka Dot Tank Top and my all time favorite Polka Dot Heels.
I was a Polka Dotting fool. Well I was, until I woke up and discovered that while I slept Mother Nature dumped ice and snow all over our little city. An hour of digging out my car lay in front of me, 30 minutes of which was just getting my car door unfrozen. The Polka Dot Heels needed to stay behind but my Black Boots made a perfect substitute given the conditions.
I happen to think that Polka Dots live in this amazing world between pattern and color. Unlike Patterns, they will can never clash with a different element in an outfit. Unlike Colors, you don't have to be aware of placement to make sure they all work together. Polka Dots simply stand on their own. It's as though Polka Dots are more of an attitude, and less of an element of an outfit. Up close Polka Dots are organized and serious, and farther back they are fun and random. When paired together, they become an amazing force field of Polka Dot strength. For years scientists have blamed a woman's rush of adrenaline on her ability to lift a car from her crying baby, scare away a bear as it approaches her playing children or even dig her car out from under ice and snow after an unnecessary March storm. But we all know the real truth, it's the force field of Polka Dots. Random cars, Scary bears, and Mother Nature Tantrums beware, with the truth of the dots on hand, nothing will get in our way.

I love that you layered polka dots on polka dots - so cute! Those heels are pretty awesome, but I'm glad you went the practical (aka not losing a toe to frostbite) route!
Double dots. Fancy! I love that bright blue!

Your polka dot pumps are seriously cool. what a great payless find!
I think you are right, they can definitely act as a neutral, three different types of dots harmonize perfectly.
