Where the Magic Happens

Do you remember the MTV show Cribs? The Snoop in me loved that show. The producers of that show would lead you to believe that the magic happened in the bedroom, and that the good stuff was in the refrigerators of all of these celebrities. I didn't watch to see either of those things. I just wanted them to get to the closets! Is there anything more impressive than the closet of a celebrity? Often resembling a high end boutique we'd see rows of clothes, all perfectly organized and ready for wear.
The most striking thing for me about so many of those closets, were how many of the clothes still had tags on them! I couldn't imagine having a closet so full that I simply couldn't wear all of the pieces.
I no longer have to imagine as I stared into the depths of my closet the other night and realized that approximately 1/4th of it has not yet been worn. Even more amazing is that approximately only 1/4 has every been on my blog. I reached this era of 'to much to wear' a few different ways, the biggest being that after a few hand-me-down piles made their way into my closet, I simply haven't gotten to chance to do much more than wash and store much of it. Add a few great seasonal sales and I find myself with 3/4 of my closet not yet haven experienced anything outside of my back bedroom.
How I got here is not my main concern of course. It's how to I get out of this cycle. Don't get me wrong, my teenage self would pat me on the back and congratulate me. I don't blame little me either! I'm rather excited about this sudden realization. It's time however that many of my items not only come out of the closet, but also make their blogging debut! I hope to cease all purchases until my birthday ( November 18th) and to spend the next month shopping out of my closet!
This skirt is a prime example. I bought this skirt thinking, this will be perfect for the winter so it spent the whole summer on it's hanger. When I slipped it on the other day, I couldn't believe that I've gone so long without wearing it! This skirt will be great year round. I think to many of my clothes have pre-concieved notions attached. I'm officially clearing the judgment slate from my closet. It's time to see what I'm really working with!
Blue Ruffle Tank: Charlotte Russe $3 ( first time on blog!)
Black Cardigan: Target $12
Skirt: Forever 21 $6 ( first time on blog!)
Necklace: Lia Sophia $20
Black Flats: Payless $6

That is such a cute skirt. And it is perfect for Fall. I love the big bow on front!

There are definitely a few things in my closet that I haven't worn, but that's in part why I've started keeping a list of items in my closet and marking off when I wear them (on the blog). I'm hoping this will help me infer which items either need to be given more attention, or discarded.
