Powerful Pattern

I found this skirt on the rack a number of months ago, and despite being a bit big, and falling below my knees I was completely smitten. Little did I know that weeks later magazines would be declaring that below the knee is the way to go!
I don't usually make my clothing purchases based on the trends of the season and I hardly shop for certain looks, as much as I shop for my body. I loved the length of this skirt on me, and I adore what the up-and-down pencil like silhouette does for my figure. For $3.50 I couldn't say no.
I knew a belt around the waist would help to bring in some of the skirt making it the perfect fit for me. Letting this amazing fabric do the talking meant toning down my other pieces. Simple black is the perfect way to go. I combined a solid shirt with my favorite ( now retired) Black 'Bitten' heels and an outfit was born. I am not a secretary, though this look would have you believing otherwise. I also see few people during the day outside of my co-workers so appropriate dress isn't necessary, but I can't help but feeling a little more professional in this outfit . Why is it feeling professional makes us all feel a little more confident at work? This outfit says, "Don't mess with me, as I am a powerful professional woman". Okay maybe the skirt is actually just saying, " Hey you! Look at my fun square pattern". I agree skirt, you know how much I do love a good pattern.

I love that pattern! That silhouette is so flattering. The length of the skirt is so 1940's and looks great!
