Weekend: Baseball Hall of Fame

Baseball Hall of Fame
A few weeks ago, Johnny declared in the middle of the week, " We have got to get out of Albany". I couldn't have agreed more. Work was becoming more and more exhausting and the higher the stress levels at work became, the more I found myself hiding from things I look so forward to normally. I just couldn't hold down normal conversations, and process normal thoughts as all of my energy was being dedicated to getting through my work day. A weekend away was exactly what the doctor was prescribing for both of us, so we jumped in the car with the necessities for a one night stay. Albany is perfect in terms of geographic location. Head 2 1/2 hours West and you'll find yourself in Boston, head about 2 1/2 hours South and discover New York City, and approximately 4 hours North you'll run into the Canadian border, or drive just an hour north and you hit the Adirondacks. We decided to live on the edge a bit however and head to the uncharted East. Cooperstown is a quaint little town just over an hour East from the heart of Albany and it promised Bed and Breakfast's for sleeping, a little town for walking, a Brewery for eating, and most excitingly the Baseball Hall of Fame for viewing.

I have been to Cooperstown a few times in the past with my family ( They host a Giant Pumpkin Festival each Fall!) but had never actually been into the Hall of Fame. Johnny is a fan of anything competitive, but Baseball is one of his favorite sports. He had visited the museum as a boy, but it had been years since his last visit, and I happen to have a weird thing for historic information so we were both looking forward to the trip.

Even as a minor fan of Baseball at best, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the museum and was a little sad when we reached the last floor. We spent hours pouring over each display case, reading every fact and learning about the history of America's greatest game. The museum made for the perfect way to end our brief get-away to a sweet little town just far enough away to let our heads get out of Albany for a bit. Baseball Season officially started last week, just as my work schedule started to calm down. Johnny will get out his Jersey's and start rooting for the Yankees while I get the popcorn ready and cheer on the Rockland Peaches. They do so well each season don't they?

I did! I actually got 2 pairs, about 3 1/2 years ago now. I have worn both pairs almost every week since than and they are still in such great condition!

This sounds delightful. I'm thinking I should probably steal my hubby away for a night too, so thanks for the tip! What a cool museum too! Hope you guys are feeling more rejuvenated!

It sounds like you're in a perfect location for planning a get away! Sometimes just a nice trip out of town for the weekend can really be a great way to recharge. I'm not a big baseball fan, I mean, I'll go to a game or two a season, but I don't tune in at home. But the Hall of Fame?! Oh yeah. I'm there. I love all baseball nostalgia. Actually, any nostalgia! It looks like a fun place to check out!
