Girls Night

There are few things that can't be fixed by a great girls night. I find every time I meet my girlfriends for a meal I feel so much better after words. We can spend hours laughing about silly things, and talking about absolutely nothing, but somehow I feel this deep sense of refreshing relief after I leave.

Years ago we would drive around town singing every song we could burn onto a CD, and talking about our dreams, our goals, how much we loved boys and hated our parents. Now we gather at a restaurant ordering wine and an appetizer to share and discuss bridesmaid dresses, and unfortunate work hurdles. As teenagers we swore that we would get together for dinner often, and we would never leave each other's sides. Even as we spoke these promises out loud I think there was a bit of wonder in the back of each of our minds. Will we still be this close when the world catches up with us, and starts to through adult struggles our way? Not only have we kept true to our promises, but we've grown even closer in the process.

I often say that there are few things that can't be fixed by a warm cardigan and a great pair of shoes. I would like to amend that statement to add, there is absolutely nothing that can't be fixed by a few hours with great girlfriends. Keep bringing it on big scary world, I've got my girlfriends on my side.
