Dressing Simply

Is there anything better than a great plain shirt? When I decided I wanted to start utilizing color more often in my wardrobe about a year ago, I started by purchasing some solid color shirts. These few shirts have now multiplied into tons, and they are the main part of any outfit. Solid color shirts can be a great starting point for outfits in the summer, and a great layering piece in the winter. There is nothing better than waking up late, throwing on a simple skirt and a great solid color shirt, working your accessories around the color and being out the door. Usually when I find a solid shirt I like I'll buy it in as many colors as it comes in, take for instance this Ann Taylor Magenta top. When I spotted it new with tags at my local Goodwill, and for 50% off I also bought it in Gray. At $4 a piece, these shirts will last me for seasons.

Besides enjoying the simplicity of this shirt with this outfit, I also did something I almost never do. I wore the belt in the belt loops. Most of my belts find a home on my waist, or around my hips on top of shirts and skirts. This belt however looked best used just as it was supposed to. I was also able to wear my amazing Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges. When I bought these, I knew that I loved them, but I didn't anticipate how much the blogging world would also love them. These shoes seem to be the it shoe of the summer and I'm excited to have a pair sitting in my closet. I must admit though, while they are comfortable I do have a bit of an issue with sliding of both the straps in the back, and my toes up front. To help work against this I put some foot pads under the palms of my feet. This helps to make sure that no amount of summer sweat will make these babies difficult to wear. Does anyone else have similar issues with these amazing shoes?

Magenta Shirt: Ann Taylor new via Goodwill $4
Skirt: Kohl's $6
Shoes: Cynthia Vincent for Target $30
Belt: Hand-me-Down from a Friend
Necklace: Charlotte Russe $4

I really like your approach to the plain colored tee. I also have several plain colored tees... they are so versatile and SO FUN to accessorize! I really like your shoes especially, and it's fun that you tell how much the things in your outfit cost... I'm always curious about this. :] Kudos to you for putting together a very cute outfit for not-too-much moolah. :]

Sigh - the CV wedges.
