Classy or Tacky

I was excited when I bought this shirt a while back. As a child I clung to the Disney Princess' but as an adult, I appreciate the classic images of Mickey Mouse. He is a universal symbol for smiles, and I can't get past his cute vintage shoes. I thought this outfit would be a fun way to make my work outfit a little light-hearted. After a week full of meetings and appointments, I thought we all could use a little lightness. Our assistant accountant didn't agree. For the first hour he was in the office every time I walked by he looked at my shirt almost confused. I couldn't decide if he loved the mouse, or thought I was inappropriate. Our work environment is very casual, and this temporary ' mutant' ( Thank you Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium) just wouldn't understand.
Apparently neither did Johnny. I threw on some jeans for dinner that night and as we sat eating and discussing the problems with American society, Johnny brushed my scarf aside. He looked up from my shirt with an utter look of disgust. " Really? Kayla, right now you are two steps away from showing up to a PTA meeting in your Disney Kingdom sweater. And that is only 1 step away from owning a pile of Ugly Christmas Sweaters that contain glitter and blinking lights". I was shocked. I wasn't surprised, because I know Johnny too well to think he would find my shirt cutsie, but I suddenly realized, maybe that's what the accountant was staring at all day. It wasn't that he didn't get it, maybe he did and he didn't like it!

But how could that be? Are there people out there who find Cartoon shirts awkward and inappropriate? Thus the debate began, and I would love to get your opinion. Is wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt too child-like? Should cartoons be left for Saturday entertainment? Or is wearing a Classic symbol like this acceptable? Should more people enjoy shirts like this? Should this shirt be kept hidden for weekend activities?
Please leave your opinions in the comment boxes below! Also, don't forget to leave your opinion in the poll on the side-bar. Johnny and I haven't come to a decision and we refuse to agree to disagree on this one!

I think your outfit is cute, but probably not appropriate for a work environment. I could definately see wearing this on the weekends because I, myself, love pairing a fun tee with a cardigan but sometimes in an office you just have to err on the side of caution. It stinks, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow, you know? On the other hand, I do not think a fun tee is a few steps away from ugly christmas sweaters with blinking lights! YIKES!
