Movie- Music and Lyrics

If you haven't seen this movie, I recommend it. It is a great contemporary love story about a woman, Sophie ( Drew Barrymore) who meets a man, Alex ( Hugh Grant) and helps him write the lyrics to a song before his big performance. This was the movie that Johnny and I watched on our first date years ago, so this movie has always had a special place in my heart, but I've also always loved Sophie's wardrobe choices. In this movie, she is a very carefree casual girl, and her outfits often reflect that.
When I think of her character in this movie, I think of three things, Scarves, Vests and Stripes. At some point in the movie she wore each of these three things, and I decided to narrow it down to two and work from there.

Until this challenge, I never thought about wearing anything over this vest. I've always displayed this vest as an outer layer, but the outfit wouldn't have been complete without the addition of the blazer. I actually bought this blazer about 5 years ago from the little girl section of Walmart. Besides the low price tag, being made for a 10 year old, the sleeves are a perfect 3/4 length. While I'll never be able to button the jacket, I've been able to use it as a great extra layer through-out the years. The scarf was an easy choice. I have a few different colored scarves, but keeping Sophie in mind, I decided a great pop of a contrasting color was a necessity. I normally avoid Red and Green together for fear of the holiday theme, and I avoid Red and Purple together for fear I will fit in a bit to well with our Red Hat wearing friends. Putting this maroon shirt together with this multi colored scarf however felt natural, and really helped to capture the casual Sophie Vibe.

I don't remember Sophie's choice for footwear for any of the movie, but I know that if they had mentioned them, they would have been great attention getting flats! I imagine her wearing all sorts of flats through out the city on her various escapades. We know she is good with plants, and I would imagine she probably has a few cats as well. Being an animal love and part time poet it only makes sense that such a creative lady would have a few pairs of leopard print shoes in her closet!

So what do you think? Did I capture the Music and Lyric Vibe?
