Iconic Style: Arty Slick

I was a little weary of this look at first. I just am not an arty dresser and wasn't sure how I would be able to incorporate it into a look pulled from my conservative closet. I wanted to work with a few different things in mind. Arty style is full of items of interest, and drama. A plain black tee paired with my short sleeve black blazer was a must. I love this little blazer. It's light weight so while it doesn't add much warmth, it does add some interest.

My relationship with this necklace is very love-hate. I won it in a giveaway hosted by Cute on the Cheap a few months ago. It is such a fun piece, but it hits rather low on my chest. Combined with the engraved suns and it's length I felt like an aztec warrior for most of the day, but it felt like the perfect piece for the owner of an art gallery, my inspiration for the day. I secretly loved the power I felt when wearing this necklace. I have tried to adjust the length, but I think this piece is best left as is.

My new snake skin heels helped to add a subtle layer of drama. I think that the pointy toe helped to emphasize my legs as I brought out my capri denim work pants for what will likely be their last summer wear. These shoes were surprisingly comfortable, even as I carried 25 pound boxes back and forth from the car at Fed-Ex.

Final Evaluation: This look was surprisingly easy for me to pull off. I think that it wasn't as artsy as I could probably go, but it was completely appropriate for my busy day at work. I often find it hard to incorporate statement jewelry into my day to day wardrobe and this style helped to prove to me that sometimes a great statement item is what can make an outfit work.

I have got to tell you, I think this is one of your best outfits ever. You look absolutely fantastic! I was surprised to read you felt uncomfortable in the necklace because that's what made the outfit for me; it drapes on you perfectly and really enhances your lean build and the bone structure of your face.

I'm a conservative dresser too so I can understand why you felt out of your element. But you don't look it!
