Black and Khaki

Since I was a little lacking in inspiration come Friday morning, I turned to the wonderful Kimberly and her inspiration calendar to help me make some decisions. (http://www.fabfindsunder50.blogspot.com) Each month I print out her calendar and while I don't always follow them by date, I always highlight some at the beginning of the month that I know I could easily put together. That way, on mornings like Friday as I blankly stare into my abyss of a closet, I have a little cheat sheet that can help me throw something together. At her recommendation for a black and khaki day, I threw this last minute outfit together.
I thought adding a bit of color with a necklace may help the outfit look a little less neutral. I do love this necklace, but looking at the whole outfit together now, I probably should have picked a necklace with brighter colors.

Instead of some basic black flats, I thought wearing these Lacy ones would again help add some interest to a pretty simple outfit. I do love the black and khaki colors together and I love how the shoes helped to make the whole outfit a bit girly-er.

The khaki pants I ended up wearing where not the khaki pants I had planned on. I have a great wide leg darker khaki that I knew would add a great contrast to the black shirt. As I attempted to zip up the pants however, I discovered that not only was the zipper broke, but some of the teeth from the actual zipper were completely missing. The zipper was now connected to just one set of teeth, and both sets were full of empty little spaces. I have no idea how the zipper broke, and I know that there is no way I can repair the zipper. I am so disappointed. I absolutely loved these pants. I have a hard time finding well fitting pants, and these pair were so perfect. It was a sad moment to have to throw these pants out, and it made me realize that I haven't thrown an item of clothing away in months. I think that that is a good thing. I mostly donate my clothing. I hardly ever have items that have problems beyond repair which proves that I do purchase well made pieces, even if I do manage to find most all of them on sale. That's what makes me even sadder. These pants I paid full price for about a year ago. I knew they were strong material, and I would get a lot of use out of them so I sucked it up and spent the money. Now I'm wishing I had stuck to my guns. More money does not always mean better material. Now I'm the wiser. Still down a pair of khaki pants, but wiser none the less.

Dig those out of the trash and take them to a tailor. They can put in a new zipper for you.

Honestly there arn't any tailors in my area that I trust. And even though it was full price the pants still didn't cost more than $40 and I know that paying a tailor would cost about that much. I will simply miss my old pair and keep my eyes open for a new. ( after the ban of course)
