Polka Frenzy

My parents got married at a relatively young age, while my father was in the Navy. Since he was away for most of the planning of the big day, my mother was lucky enough to have a lot of help from family members and friends. One of those helpful parts, was the booking of the DJ. My father's parents volunteered to search out the perfect wedding band, pay for and arrange all of the music. The big surprise? The band they found was a Polka band, and that is the only kind of music they knew how to play. My parent's enjoyed their first dance as a non-polka dancing married couple, to a song they would never again identify. The highlight to this otherwise random band choice? There were two lovely couples who were fluent in Polka dancing and spent their nights twirling on the dance floor. The rest of the guests got free entertainment.

This story is what started my love of Polka Dots. Okay, that's not true, I lied. But it is a great story, and I do really love Polka Dots. There is just something so undeniably feminine about a shirt full of contrasting colors in the smallest form. When I saw this tank top hanging on the Clearance rack of my local Maurices, I didn't even have to try it on. I slipped it right into my pile of items to buy and immediately started imagining all of the ways it will be worn. It has a darling front pocket, it hangs loosely and it is made of the softest material. What more is there to say?

The only thing more feminine than Polka Dots? Pearls. Since I've now turned a leaf and am leading a life of honestly again, I must admit that I never wear gold. Never ever, but with such a thin chain I instantly fell in love. With just the hint of gold this necklace is perfect for adding a bit of feminine warmth to any outfit.

Polka Dot Shirt: Maurices $5
Purple Cardigan: Gap via Goodwill $4
Pink Cardigan: old
Pearl Necklace: Maurices $7
Black Belt: Goodwill $2
Jeans: gifted from a friend, her fat jeans, my perfectly fitting jeans. Sometimes life is cruel
