There are certain things in life you know you will get wrapped up in before they occur. I read the book, Water for Elephants about a year ago, so when I heard that they were filming a movie, I knew that I would be a huge fan immediately. When I first heard that Rachel Zoe had a new television show a few years ago, I immediately started stalking the Television Guide waiting for the big debut. As a huge fan of both her work and her book, I knew I would become of a fan of the show, and I was right. What I didn't expect was that I would fall head over heels obsessed with the Royal Wedding coverage. Well obsessed is a strong word, but I have fallen deeply in lust with all of the coverage and have spent this past week enjoying all of the royal education.
While I have spent my days still adjusting to my new routines and day to day tasks, I have been rushing home all week to watch past royal weddings, learn about Diana's dresses, Educating myself on How to become a Prince, and catching up on the decade long relationship of William and Kate. The grand finale of course was the big wedding yesterday. Despite all of the excitement, I couldn't bring myself to wake up at 4am EST to catch the coverage live. Thank goodness we live in 2011, and we have the power of DVR. My mother has always spoke about waking up early to watch Diana walk down the aisle, and now I will tell my future children about coming home from work and fast forwarding through the commercials to get to the good stuff. Sure our stories are different, but the feelings are still the same. I got choked up when Kate and William exchanged their vows, and I think I swooned along with the rest of the world when her Royal Highness the Dutchess of Cambridge first stepped out of the car in her amazing McQueen gown. The entire affair was traditional, regal and romantic, and filled the air with dreams of princess brides everywhere. It was an amazing event and like many little girls around the world, I filled my notebook with ideas for my future wedding. Johnny would look awfully fantastic in red....
